Ogun Communities Cry Out for Governor's Intervention Amid Demolition Threat

Ogun communities in Abeokuta South, Ogun State, are appealing to Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene in the planned demolition of villages for land acquisition. The affected villages, including Itori Mogan, Laaki, Jaguna, Ogunu, Paashi, Kumapayi, Abul Odo, and Ijemoland, have a history dating back 300 years.

The state government issued demolition notices, citing contravention of land use laws. Villagers expressed displeasure and fear of displacement, with Chief Olakunle Bodunde lamenting the potential loss of community heritage.

Despite legal actions, the communities hope for dialogue with the government to address the issue and prevent homelessness.
