Ogun State Speaker Urges Alternatives Before Demolishing Lawmakers' Quarters

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Daisi Elemide, has challenged Governor Dapo Abiodun to offer alternative accommodation options before demolishing the lawmakers' quarters in Ibara, Abeokuta, built 46 years ago. Elemide emphasized that the demolition plan should not proceed without providing modern apartments that add economic value to the state.

He praised the Governor for approving a constituency project worth N150 million, enhancing the legislature's performance. Jamiu Omoniyi, the House Commission Chairman, clarified that the reconstruction of the legislative quarters is part of the Ogun State Urban Housing Renewal Master Plan to replace outdated infrastructure.

The relationship between the Governor and the legislative arm was described as cordial, with calls for increased autonomy to optimize service delivery to the people.
