NDLEA Arraigns Drug Baron and Mexicans for Meth Lab

On Friday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arraigned alleged drug kingpin Anochili Innoc, 63, along with three Mexican nationals—Juan Carlo Meza Torrero, Nemecio Martinez Felix, and Jesu López Vall—and six Nigerians in the Federal High Court in Lagos. They face 11 counts of conspiracy, financing drug trafficking, and unlawful possession of 419.48 kilograms of methamphetamine, valued at N480 billion in the international illicit drug market.

The arrests occurred during coordinated NDLEA operations in Ogun State from May 16 to 18, 2026, where a sophisticated methamphetamine production facility was discovered in a forest in Ijebu East Local Government Area. The agency recovered significant quantities of precursor chemicals used in meth production.

NDLEA Chairman Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd) described the case as a significant crackdown on industrial-scale drug manufacturing in Nigeria, highlighting the alarming presence of international drug cartels attempting to exploit Nigeria's manufacturing base.
