Iyabo Obasanjo Suspends Ogun Governorship Bid for 2027

Iyabo Obasanjo announced the suspension of her governorship bid for Ogun State in the 2027 elections after Solomon Adeola emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement signed on Monday, Obasanjo congratulated Adeola on his emergence and expressed appreciation to the party leaders for the opportunity to participate in the selection process.

Adeola represents Ogun West in the Senate and was adopted as the consensus candidate during a meeting held at the APC secretariat in Abeokuta. Obasanjo stated that her decision to step back from the race was based on the developments within the party.

She thanked her supporters across Ogun State for their loyalty and encouragement throughout her campaign, describing their support as steadfast and reassuring.
