Iyabo Obasanjo Suspends Ogun Governorship Bid for Yayi

Iyabo Obasanjo, the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has announced the suspension of her gubernatorial ambitions for Ogun State. This decision follows the emergence of Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the consensus candidate for the Progressive Congress in the upcoming 2027 elections.

In a statement signed on Monday, Obasanjo expressed her support for Adeola, thanking the state and national leaders of the party for the opportunity to participate in the nomination process. She emphasized her deep gratitude for the unwavering support she received throughout her journey and expressed hope for the future, urging the party to move forward with patience and strength.

The announcement was made after a caucus meeting held at the APC secretariat in Abeokuta, where Adeola was confirmed as the consensus candidate for Ogun West Senatorial District.
