Iyabo Obasanjo Stands Firm in Ogun Governorship Race

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has publicly stated that she is not in the Ogun governorship race to step down for anyone. During a media parley held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta on a Saturday, she expressed her full preparation and commitment to winning the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2027 elections.

Iyabo dismissed claims of disconnect from grassroots, asserting that her political strength lies in her deep connections within local communities. She highlighted her efforts to visit remote areas across the Ogun Central senatorial district during her campaign for the Senate, emphasizing her engagement with the populace.

Additionally, she mentioned that her time abroad allowed her to learn about governance and public service, which she views as an opportunity to promote development rather than a permanent job.
