Ogun Government Denies Endorsement of Prince Kuye

The Ogun State government has officially dismissed reports suggesting that Prince Ademorin Aliu Kuye has been endorsed as the next Awujale of Ijebuland, calling the claims false and misleading. In a statement, the government clarified that it does not support any candidate during the ongoing selection process for the Awujale stool.

The selection and installation of the Awujale are governed by strict adherence to laws and traditional customs. The process to fill the vacant stool has been temporarily halted, following the death of the late monarch, Oba Sikiru Adetona, who reigned for 65 years and passed away in July 2025 at the age of 91.

This marks the second suspension of the selection process within a month, with the government citing the need to safeguard public order amid heavy security presence. The government has urged the public to rely solely on official communications and to refrain from spreading rumors that could create tension regarding the Awujale stool.
