Ohanaeze Ndigbo Defends Umahi Against Political Allegations

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has responded to renewed allegations made by Traci Nichola Ohiri against David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State. The organization claims that these allegations are politically motivated and part of a broader effort to discredit Umahi, who is currently serving as a minister.

Ohanaeze specifically pointed to elements within the African Democratic Congress as orchestrating this campaign against Umahi. They noted that Ohiri had previously recanted her allegations of sexual harassment against Umahi and sought forgiveness, raising suspicions about the timing and motivation behind her latest claims.

Ohanaeze dismissed reports that Umahi had paid compensation to Ohiri, asserting that any financial support she received was from private contributions and not linked to the minister. The organization warned that using unverifiable allegations as political tools could erode public trust and destabilize governance.

They urged Ohiri to refrain from using her claims in political battles and called for appropriate medical attention for her.
