Lawyer Accuses Businesswoman of False Claims in Dispute

Human rights lawyer and activist Marshal Abubakar has accused businesswoman Traci Ohiri of spreading falsehoods concerning a dispute involving Minister David Umahi. In a statement made on Thursday, Abubakar insisted that there is no concrete evidence to support Ohiri's claims and threatened legal action against her.

He highlighted that Ohiri's allegations could lead to her imprisonment, emphasizing the need for intervention to protect free speech. Abubakar disclosed that he led a team of activists to secure bail for Ohiri, who faced a prolonged standoff regarding her remand in prison.

Despite attempts to mediate the situation, Ohiri later apologized and sought further assistance, which ultimately collapsed. Abubakar claimed that Ohiri demanded 300 million naira and threatened to launch an online campaign against him.

He expressed disappointment in the situation, describing it as a painful lesson and hinted at possible legal action.
