Ojudu Seeks Clarity on N96bn Akure-Ado Road Project

Former Senator Babafemi Ojudu has demanded an explanation from the Federal Government regarding the N95.98 billion Akure-Ado-Ekiti dual carriageway project. He expressed concern that only one carriageway has been rehabilitated despite the project being awarded for dualisation.

Ojudu noted that construction activities have halted, with heavy equipment reportedly disappearing from the site. He recalled that the original contract, valued at approximately N30 billion, was awarded to Dantata & Sawoe in November 2019 but was later cancelled.

The project was re-awarded on March 29, 2023, as a 50-kilometre dualisation project, with work flagged off in May 2023. The Akure-Ondo State boundary section was awarded to Samchase Nigeria Limited and Horizon Construction Company Limited for N46.68 billion, while the section from the Ekiti boundary to Ado-Ekiti was awarded to Kopek Construction Limited for N49.29 billion.

Ojudu called on Minister of Works David Umahi to clarify whether the contract has been altered to a single carriageway and to provide updates on the project's status.
