Okobi Unfazed by Criticism on Super Falcons Return

Ngozi Okobi Okeoghene, a 32-year-old footballer, has returned to the Super Falcons after nearly three years, during which she gave birth to her first child. Despite facing criticism on social media regarding her selection, Okobi remains unfazed, asserting that childbirth should not limit a woman's career in sports.

She expressed her happiness about rejoining the national team under coach Justin Madugu ahead of the friendly match against Cameroon, scheduled for February 28, with a return leg on March 3. This match is part of the preparations for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3.

Nigeria, a ten-time continental champion, has already secured qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup final through consistent performances, including a 2-0 victory against Benin Republic and a 1-1 draw in Abeokuta.
