Unit Nigeria Airline Celebrates 5 Years of Connectivity

During a media chat marking the fifth anniversary of Unit Nigeria Airline, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, the chairman, highlighted the airline's role in connecting Nigerian cities and fostering unity among citizens. He recounted the airline's achievements, including its first commercial flight to Ekiti and Bayelsa, where he noted the emotional impact on local residents who had never seen an aircraft before.

Okonkwo expressed gratitude for the partnership with Afe Babalola University, which includes a ten-year memorandum of understanding signed in February 2026 to train students in aeronautics and aerospace maintenance. He addressed concerns regarding the lack of transit facilities at airports, which hinder the establishment of a hub in Nigeria, and emphasized the airline's commitment to expanding routes and services.

Okonkwo projected that by 2027, the airline would significantly increase its passenger capacity and fleet size, aiming to carry over one million passengers annually. He also mentioned ongoing negotiations for aircraft leases and the expected benefits from these agreements.
