Georg Okoroma Becomes FIDIC Africa President in 2026

Engr. Georg Okoroma has been inaugurated as the President of FIDIC Africa at the 31st FIDIC Africa Infrastructure Conference, which took place from May 10 to 13, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.

He succeeds Engr. Rizwan Qadri from Tanzania, marking a significant milestone as the first Nigerian to lead the continent's consulting engineering body.

During his inauguration, Okoroma emphasized the need for service responsiveness to enhance Africa's infrastructure future, drawing on nearly four decades of engineering practice. He has held various leadership roles within FIDIC Africa, including serving on the executive committee since 2016 and as honorary treasurer.

His presidency will focus on addressing the estimated $130 billion to $170 billion annual infrastructure financing gap in Africa, advocating for stronger partnerships among governments, development institutions, and local engineering firms to drive sustainable infrastructure delivery. Okoroma is a graduate of civil engineering from Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse, France, and holds a master’s degree in project management from the University of Roehampton, London.
