Okoroma Wins Bayelsa Gov's Cup, FC Barcelona Partnership

Okoroma emerged as the champion of the Bayelsa Governor's Cup, securing a cash prize of N30 million. In the men's final, Akinima Biogbo received N13 million as a runner-up.

The women's final saw Ladi Agudama defeat defending champion Afini Ladi Amarata with a lone goal, earning N10 million, while the runner-up received N7 million. The Bayelsa State Government, represented by Dr.

Daniel Igali, signed a memorandum of understanding with FC Barcelona, with Mr. Bernat Villa Garri representing Barcelona, to establish an academy aimed at nurturing grassroots football talent in the state.

Governor Senator Douye Diri emphasized the importance of this partnership with one of Europe's largest football teams to engage youth and steer them away from negative practices. The tournament has grown significantly since 2020, expanding from 100 teams to 227 teams, including female and para categories.
