Maduka Okoye Excited for Super Eagles Return

Maduka Okoye has expressed his delight at being recalled to the Super Eagles, describing the call-up as an honor and a motivation to maintain high performance levels. The 26-year-old goalkeeper, who plays for Udinese, highlighted his significance in representing Nigeria.

Okoye's return to the national team comes after missing the squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following a thigh injury sustained during training. Despite this setback, he has impressed at the club level, earning a place in the Serie A team after standout performances, including a clean sheet in Udinese's 3-0 victory over AC Milan.

Okoye has recorded eight clean sheets in 24 Serie A appearances this season, achieving three consecutive shutouts for the first time since joining the club in 2023. He made his Super Eagles debut against Brazil in 2019 and has earned 19 caps, solidifying his position as the first-choice goalkeeper amid increasing competition.
