Okpekpe Race Celebrates Oshiomhole's 74th Birthday

The Okpekpe Race Organisers celebrated Adams Oshiomhole, former two-time governor of Edo State and current senator representing Edo North, on his 74th birthday on Good Friday. Oshiomhole is recognized for his pivotal role in establishing the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race, which has become a landmark sporting event since its inception in 2013.

The race was the first in Nigeria to earn international certification from World Athletics in 2015, meeting strict international standards for safety and course accuracy. Mike Adoga Itemuagbor, the race promoter, praised Oshiomhole's vision and commitment, stating that the race has placed Nigeria on the global road running map.

The celebration emphasized Oshiomhole's legacy in sports development and community upliftment, highlighting his participation as a runner in several editions of the race, particularly in 2013 and 2015 when it achieved its certified status.
