Olawepo-Hashim Advocates PDP Unity After Court Ruling

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has urged party leaders to unite following a recent court ruling. The Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal filed by a faction led by Kabiru Turaki SAN, which challenged the October 31, 2025 judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

This judgment had restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the outcomes of the PDP's national convention held in Ibadan in November 2025. The court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction over the matter, deeming it an internal party affair and stating that the PDP failed to comply with relevant constitutional provisions for conducting a valid national convention.

In response to the ruling, Olawepo-Hashim emphasized the need for the party to put its disputes behind and focus on rebuilding, expressing optimism about ongoing reconciliation efforts among party leaders to restore unity within the PDP.
