PDP's Turaki Faction Appeals Supreme Court Amid Talks

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Tanimu Turaki is set to appeal to the Supreme Court following a recent judgment that upheld a previous decision regarding the party's 2025 national convention. Despite ongoing reconciliation efforts, Turaki's faction, which includes notable figures such as Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, is committed to pursuing legal redress.

Ini Ememobong, the party's spokesperson, confirmed that the faction will file an appeal while also emphasizing that this legal action will not obstruct reconciliation processes. The National Working Committee (NWC) has met to discuss the implications of the appeal and the need for unity within the party.

Fred Agbedi, a leader within the party, assured lawmakers of their resolve to face upcoming challenges, while Toni Aziegbemi, representing 28 state chairmen, expressed loyalty to Turaki's leadership amidst the internal crisis. The PDP has been divided into rival factions for nearly three years, complicating its path toward the 2027 elections.
