Olopade Praises First Lady for Supporting Women's Sports

Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, commended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her unwavering support of Nigerian women's sports. This recognition came after the Nigeria Women’s Wrestling Team achieved a historic milestone by winning their 15th continental title at the Africa Wrestling Championship held in Egypt, where they secured eight gold medals and two silver medals.

Olopade emphasized that the First Lady's consistent encouragement plays a significant role in the ongoing success of Nigerian female athletes on both continental and global stages. He noted her dedication to ensuring that every girl child has the opportunity to pursue sports and realize their dreams.

Additionally, Oluremi Tinubu has been a prominent supporter of sports development in Nigeria across various disciplines, having been appointed as the Grand Patron for the 2025 Africa Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in Abuja. She has also recently attended the closing ceremony of the third edition of the National Para Games at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja as a special guest of honor.
