Olopade Announces Plans for Super Falcons Pay Increase

Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, announced plans for improved pay for the Super Falcons, stating that details will be revealed soon. This announcement was made while outlining the Federal Government’s approach to sports development, which focuses on enhancing facilities and supporting women in sports.

Olopade emphasized the importance of building neighborhood sports facilities and assisting state governments in revamping sports venues nationwide. He cited the Nigeria Netball Federation as an example of female leadership in sports, highlighting that it has a female president and nine of its 13 board members are women.

Additionally, he assured support for D’Tigress, Nigeria's women's basketball team, following their recent successes, including the fulfillment of a $100,000 promise to each player by President Bola Tinubu. Olopade expressed a forward-looking approach, focusing on progress in Nigerian sports rather than past setbacks.
