NSC and Finance Ministry Finalize Rewards for Falcons, D’Tigress

The National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Ministry of Finance have made significant progress in finalizing the presidential rewards for Nigeria’s Senior Women’s Basketball Team (D’Tigress) and Senior Women’s Football Team (Super Falcons). This development followed a meeting between NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele.

The rewards, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recognize the teams' accomplishments in 2025, with the Super Falcons winning the WAFCON title in Morocco and the D’Tigress retaining the Women’s AfroBasket in Ivory Coast. The Minister of Finance confirmed that the federal government has paid for three-bedroom flats in Abuja for the players and officials, and the cash rewards payment process will be concluded immediately.

Players and officials will receive alerts from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in line with the presidential directives. Additionally, they have received title documents for the flats and Certificates of National Honors of OON endorsed by the President.
