Olubadan Ladoja Denies Impeachment Plot Against Makinde

Olubadan Ladoja, the traditional ruler of Ibadanland, addressed allegations regarding a supposed plan to impeach Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. He described these claims as false and misleading, clarifying that they were unfounded and cautioned individuals and political actors against involving the Olubadan throne in partisan politics.

Ladoja emphasized that the traditional institution does not possess constitutional authority to remove an elected official, as outlined in the Nigerian Constitution. He noted that even local government chairmen cannot be removed from office by traditional rulers.

Ladoja reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the dignity and neutrality of the traditional institution, stressing that the allegations were illogical and misrepresented the role of traditional leaders in governance.
