POWA CARES Initiative Enhances Welfare for Police Families

Olufunmilola Mutiat Disu, who assumed her role as the 23rd National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) on March 4, 2026, has initiated the POWA CARES Initiative aimed at delivering structured, scalable, and sustainable welfare for police families across Nigeria. The program focuses on five key priorities: mental health support, economic empowerment, skill acquisition, entrepreneurship training, and access to sustainable financial opportunities.

During the launch event held at the POWA Multipurpose Hall in Ikeja, Lagos, Disu emphasized the importance of welfare for police families, which is often overlooked in security discourse. The first phase of the initiative successfully provided healthcare support to 1,000 beneficiaries in Abuja, with plans to expand to Lagos, where another 1,000 beneficiaries received free medical services.

The initiative also includes financial grants for families and educational scholarships for nursing students, aiming to foster a sense of inclusion and improve the overall welfare of police families.
