POWA and NANNM Launch Welfare Outreach for Police Families

The Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) and the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) are partnering to enhance welfare outreach for police families in Lagos. POWA President Olufunmilola Disu received a high-level delegation from NANNM, led by National President Haruna Mamman, at POWA headquarters in Abuja.

This engagement is seen as a strategic step to improve healthcare delivery within the police community. The second phase of a nationwide program aims to boost health and stabilize the economy for police families.

The inaugural phase in Abuja successfully provided free eye screenings and basic medical consultations to 1,000 beneficiaries. The Lagos outreach will extend beyond healthcare to include broader social support, notably scholarships for 10 children of police officers.

The collaboration is designed to promote education and strengthen the healthcare workforce pipeline, with Disu herself being a trained nurse. The outreach is scheduled for later this month, aiming to integrate support services for police families across the state.
