Oluremi Tinubu Pledges ₦10m for Young Artist's Education

On August 18, 2026, during the launch of the South-West Zonal National Food Bank Programme at the Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, pledged ₦10 million towards the education of 12-year-old artist Morenikeji Ebunoluwa Joshua. This commitment came after Joshua displayed a portrait of the First Lady, showcasing his artistic talent.

The pledge was quickly realized through the establishment of an Education Development Trust Fund, specifically opened to support Joshua's tertiary education. This initiative underscores the importance of actionable philanthropy, contrasting with often unfulfilled public pledges.

Prior to this, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun had awarded Joshua a scholarship for his primary and secondary education after discovering his talent at an exhibition three years earlier. The combined efforts of both leaders illustrate a structured approach to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for youth in Nigeria.
