Oluremi Tinubu empowers 500 traders in Cross River State

On Saturday, Senator Oluremi Tinubu distributed cash support and gift items to 500 market women in Cross River State, as part of an initiative to boost small businesses and enhance grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections. The event took place at Watt Market in Calabar and was organized through the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
Dr Betta Edu, the Deputy Director of the directorate and former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, represented Tinubu at the event. Edu stated that each market woman received N50,000 in cash support along with various gift items, including deep freezers, blenders, and toasters.
She emphasized the importance of providing seed capital to women entrepreneurs, who often face challenges in accessing affordable finance. The program aims to empower women, who account for about 70 percent of trading in Nigerian markets, to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
