Ovie Omo-Agege Resigns from APC After Primary Defeat

Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on May 22, 2026, following his defeat in the Delta Central senatorial primary election. In a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area, he cited recent developments within the party and expressed his belief that he could better pursue his political aspirations outside the APC.

Omo-Agege thanked the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President and requested the removal of his name from the party's membership records. His resignation came after he lost to incumbent Senator Ed Dafinon, who scored 116,252 votes, while Omo-Agege received only 3,643 votes in the direct primary election conducted across eight local government areas in the district.
