Ovie Omo-Agege Resigns from APC After Primary Defeat

Ovie Omo-Agege, who served as the Deputy President of the 9th Senate, officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on May 22, 2026, after losing in the senatorial primary. In a statement, he expressed that his decision was influenced by recent political developments within the APC in Delta State.

Omo-Agege indicated that he had consulted with political associates and concluded that remaining in the APC would not allow him to effectively pursue his political interests in the Delta Central senatorial district. He thanked the APC for the opportunity to serve and requested the removal of his name from the party's membership records.

Although he has not disclosed which new political party he intends to join, his resignation is expected to trigger a realignment within the APC and the broader political landscape in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
