Omo-Agege Exits APC, Backs Peter Obi for 2027 Elections

Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy Senate President and Delta State governorship candidate, explained his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) during an interview on Arise TV. He cited a hijack of the party's structure in Delta State as the reason for his departure, claiming that loyal APC members were sidelined during recent congresses.

Omo-Agege asserted that the restructuring of the party did not reflect the interests of long-standing members. He claimed to have strong grassroots support, with 240,000 backing him in the 2023 governorship election.

Following consultations with political leaders, he decided to align with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and support presidential candidate Peter Obi. Omo-Agege criticized the administration of Sheriff Oborevwori, alleging that the state has accrued N3 trillion with little development, and highlighted issues such as poverty, unemployment, and poor infrastructure.

He dismissed claims of losing his party ticket, insisting he won across eight local government areas.
