ADC Suspends Congresses Amid INEC Directive in Ondo

The Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by state chairman Wole Ademoyegun, has announced an immediate suspension of its scheduled ward and local government area congresses. This decision follows a directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which requires political parties to maintain the status quo until ongoing issues are resolved.

Ademoyegun emphasized the party's commitment to adhering strictly to INEC's instructions and urged members and stakeholders to remain calm and united during this uncertain period. The ADC also cautioned against any actions that could violate INEC's directives, warning members to refrain from unauthorized gatherings.

This suspension comes amid a backdrop of internal disputes within the party and follows INEC's recent decision to delist national leaders, including David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola. Despite these challenges, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's national secretary, affirmed the party's intention to participate in the 2027 general elections.
