Ondo ADC Suspends Congresses Following INEC Directive

The Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced the suspension of its planned ward and local government congresses in compliance with a directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The statement, issued by the state chairman Wole Ademoyegun on Wednesday, emphasized the party's commitment to adhering to INEC's regulations and maintaining the status quo until the resolution of ongoing issues.

The ADC urged its members and stakeholders to remain calm and united, exercising discipline during this period. The party also warned against unauthorized gatherings that could disrupt peace within the organization.

This development follows INEC's recent decision to delist national leaders from the party, including David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, and is part of the ADC's response to internal disputes, including disagreements over the tenure of former national chairman Ralph Nwosu, which arose in August 2022. Despite these challenges, the ADC's national public secretary Bolaji Abdullahi confirmed participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
