Ondo Ex-Gov Mimiko Resigns from PDP Effective April 2026

Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, who served as the governor of Ondo State from 2009 to 2016, has announced his resignation from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He communicated this decision through a letter addressed to the party chairman of Ward 7 in the Ondo West Local Government Area. The resignation is effective from April 10, 2026.

Mimiko expressed that his decision was made without animosity towards anyone and was necessary to clarify his political status amidst speculation regarding his membership. He indicated a desire to distance himself from party activities, although he did not confirm whether he would join another political party, such as the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
