Ondo Government Launches Massive ITN Distribution to Fight Malaria

The Ondo State Government endorsed the distribution of a million Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs) to combat malaria, with a campaign scheduled from September 8 to 17, 2025. In collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme and Malaria Consortium, the initiative aims to reduce the state's malaria prevalence rate, currently at 27%.

Officials emphasized the importance of using ITNs to prevent malaria, highlighting its effectiveness in reducing incidences by 50%. Malaria remains a significant public health burden in Nigeria, with children under five and pregnant women being particularly vulnerable.

The distribution campaign will involve trained personnel registering residents and distributing nets across the state.
