Rotary International Launches Zero Malaria Project in Bayelsa State, Nigeria

Rotary International has launched a zero malaria project in Bayelsa State in partnership with Rotary Club Maple Grove, USA. The project aims to combat the spread of malaria by distributing nets, conducting blood pressure and blood sugar tests, and providing free medicated eyeglasses.

Chief Jennifer Borel, the Project Director, highlighted the importance of disease prevention and treatment in Bayelsa, a region in the Niger Delta known for its high prevalence of malaria due to its geographical characteristics. The project follows a successful initiative in Patani, Delta State, which significantly reduced infections and deaths.

The focus is on educating and assisting communities in riverine and coastal areas to save lives from this deadly disease.
