Ondo Government Supports 39 Residents with N38m for Kidney Transplants, Urges Enrollment in Health Insurance Scheme

The Ondo State Government disbursed N38 million to cover medical bills for 39 residents requiring kidney transplants. Commissioner of Health Banji Ajaka presented the cheques in Akure, emphasizing the costly nature of kidney transplants.

The beneficiaries were selected through a screening process by the medical assistance board. The Commissioner encouraged residents to enroll in the state's contributory health insurance scheme, which provides access to healthcare services without out-of-pocket payments.

The scheme also offers free maternal and child healthcare services. The government aims to make the health insurance scheme compulsory for all residents.
