FG Reduces Dialysis Cost in Nigeria from N50k to N12k, Releases List of Federal Hospitals

The Nigerian government has significantly reduced the cost of kidney dialysis from N50k to N12k per session in federal hospitals across the country. This move, approved by President Bola Ahmed, aims to provide relief to thousands of Nigerians battling kidney ailments.

The subsidy will be implemented in major hospitals across the six geopolitical zones, with plans to expand to more facilities by the end of the year. Additionally, President Bola Tinubu has approved free caesarean sections for pregnant women in federal medical facilities to improve maternal healthcare and reduce preventable maternal deaths.

Experts have praised these initiatives, especially as the cost of medical treatment continues to rise due to the exit of several pharmaceutical companies in 2023. The government's efforts to reduce medical costs and improve healthcare access are seen as crucial steps in strengthening Nigeria's healthcare system.
