INEC Appeals Court Ruling on APC Candidate Arobo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has filed an appeal against the Federal High Court's judgment that declared Abdulghani Rotimi Arobo as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency. The ruling, delivered by Justice Peter O.

Lifu on August 5, 2026, recognized Arobo as the winner of the APC primary election. INEC's appeal aims to review the judgment and the primary election results that the court relied upon.

Until the appeal is resolved, Hon Timehin Adelegbe remains recognized by INEC as the candidate. The APC has also filed a Motion for Stay of Execution and notified INEC of its decision to challenge the judgment.

The party expressed concerns regarding the authenticity of the result sheet that credited Arobo with 7,959 votes in Owo and 2,583 votes in Ose, questioning its source and whether it was part of the party's official records. The final determination of this legal dispute is expected to clarify the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
