Court to Rule on Oyedemi's Challenge of APC Primary Election

Justice Nkeonye Evelyn Maha of the Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, has set October 26, 2026, for judgment on a suit filed by Wakil Oyeleru Oyedemi regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Afijio/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West Federal Constituency. Oyedemi seeks to annul the primary election results due to alleged irregularities and non-compliance with electoral guidelines, requesting a new primary election.

The suit, numbered FHC/IB/CS/64/2026, names the APC as the first defendant, with Hon Akeem Adeyemi and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the second and third defendants, respectively. Oyedemi's counsel, Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), argued that INEC had admitted to not conducting proper accreditation in the relevant local government areas.
