Ondo Monarch Jailed for Alleged Land Grabbing

Chief Aderounmu Olusola, a monarch in Ondo State, has been sent to prison following allegations of land grabbing related to properties that belonged to the late Chief Daniel Fabomi Ajana Eleyewo, which were reportedly sold in 2014. The charges were filed by the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, represented by Mr.

O.E. Akintan.

The allegations include forcefully taking possession of land and destroying property, which contravenes the Ondo State Property Protection Document Law of 2024. The court heard that Aderounmu ignored multiple invitations from the anti-land grab task force and attempted to evade investigation.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was subsequently granted bail set at 2 million naira, with two sureties required. The Ondo State Task Force on Property Protection, chaired by Dr.

Olukayode Ajulo, warned residents against taking the law into their own hands regarding land disputes.
