APC Rejects One-Party State Allegations in Nigeria

Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, speaking on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a media chat on Wednesday, refuted claims that Nigeria is drifting towards a one-party state. He argued that such allegations are driven by emotion rather than factual evidence.

Basiru highlighted that Nigeria has approximately 200 million people, with a significant proportion belonging to the APC, and noted that there are currently 19 registered political parties in the country. He stated that the notion of a one-party state is unfounded, as the diversity of political parties disproves this claim.

The APC aims to strengthen its structures and expand grassroots support while focusing on policy development aligned with its "Renewed Hope" agenda. Basiru criticized those making emotional claims without substantial evidence, asserting that Nigeria's democracy is vibrant, with independent media and freedom of speech.
