Bucknor-Akerele Accuses APC of One-Party State Agenda

Bucknor-Akerele, who served as Deputy Governor of Lagos State from May 1999 to December 2002, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to undermine opposition parties in Nigeria as part of a strategy to establish a one-party state ahead of the 2027 elections. During her appearance on Vanguard's political program, she expressed concern about the current political climate under President Bola Tinubu, describing the situation as dangerous.

Bucknor-Akerele criticized the APC-led administration for issues related to insecurity and economic hardship, asserting that these factors threaten the country's democracy. She also alleged that the ruling party is infiltrating opposition parties to dominate the political landscape.

Bucknor-Akerele resigned from her position as Deputy Governor due to political disagreements with Tinubu, reflecting a clash in their political agendas and approaches to public service.
