Wike Shocked by Low 10% Voter Turnout in FCT Polls

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), expressed his shock regarding the low voter turnout in the recent area council elections, which he noted was only 10 percent. During his tour of polling units in the Karshi area, he interacted with electoral officials and observed that very few voters were present.

Wike inquired about the turnout from ad hoc officials, including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Mose Paul, the candidate from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), earlier attributed the low turnout to movement restrictions and described the situation as confusing, which he believed contributed to the turnout being far lower than expected.

Wike's comments highlight concerns about the electoral process and the factors affecting voter participation in the FCT.
