Amaechi: Only North May Support Atiku in 2027 Elections

In an interview on Friday, Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transport, commented on Atiku Abubakar's presidential ambitions for the 2027 elections, suggesting that only the northern region might support him. Amaechi reacted to Abubakar's insinuation that he does not represent the nation's leadership adequately.

He argued that Abubakar is qualified to contest but warned against playing the ethnic card, stressing that regional interests should not dominate Nigeria's leadership dynamics. Amaechi highlighted the detrimental impact of ethnic considerations on the country's current challenges, citing President Bola Tinubu's support for a Muslim-Muslim ticket as an example.

He also mentioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and noted that he, alongside Abubakar and Peter Obi, is a potential candidate for the party's presidential primaries in 2027.
