Onuachu Scores 22nd Goal, Breaks Drought Against Galatasaray

Paul Onuachu, the Nigerian striker for Trabzonspor, scored his first-ever goal against Galatasaray during a match at Papara Park, contributing to his tally of 22 league goals this season. The goal came from a header after a pinpoint cross from Wagner Pina, following a brilliant run by Ismail Jakob down the right flank.

Prior to this match, Onuachu had not scored against Galatasaray in previous encounters. His performance has solidified his position as the top scorer in the Turkish Süper Lig, ahead of Eldor Shomurodov of Istanbul Basaksehir, who has 16 goals.

Onuachu has scored against three of Turkey's traditional big clubs, having netted twice against Fenerbahce and once against Besiktas. This goal also brings his overall tally for Trabzonspor to 41 goals across all competitions since his loan spell from Southampton in the 2023-24 season.

He is on track to surpass the club record for league goals scored by a foreign player in a single season, currently held by Shota Arveladze with 25 goals in the 1995-96 campaign.
