Iran Attacks Oil Tanker After Trump's Ultimatum

On Tuesday, Iran executed a drone attack on the Kuwaiti-flagged oil tanker Al Salmi off the coast of Dubai, just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark ultimatum to Iran regarding its energy infrastructure.

Trump warned that countries dependent on Gulf oil should take action to secure the Strait of Hormuz themselves, stating, "U.S. won’t help anymore." The Al Salmi, which can carry 2 million barrels of oil valued at approximately $200 million, sustained hull damage but no oil leaks or crew injuries were reported. This incident follows a series of tensions in the region, with Iran's Revolutionary Guard reportedly targeting ships in the Gulf.

The attack coincided with rising crude oil prices, with Brent crude surpassing $114 per barrel. The situation has escalated regional conflicts, with Iran's military actions affecting global oil supply and prompting U.S. military reinforcements in the Middle East.
