OpenAI Halts Plans for Erotic Chatbot Amid Concerns

OpenAI announced on Thursday that it has put its plans for a sexual explicit chatbot on hold indefinitely. This decision comes amid growing societal concerns about the reputational risks associated with releasing such a product.

Last year, OpenAI had relaxed restrictions on its ChatGPT chatbot to allow erotic content for verified adult users. The shelving of the erotic chatbot plan follows OpenAI's recent decision to wind down its Sora video social media app, which faced criticism for triggering a flood of low-value AI content online.
