Opposition Urges Tinubu to Address Insecurity Before 2027

During a press briefing in Abuja, the Minority Caucus, represented by Hon. Fred Agbedi, warned President Bola Tinubu against prioritizing the 2027 general elections over addressing Nigeria's escalating insecurity and economic hardships.

Agbedi highlighted the urgent need for government intervention, citing the recent death of retired General Rabe Abubakar and the ongoing abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State as evidence of the deteriorating security situation. The caucus condemned a recent Federal High Court judgment that sought to deregister political parties, viewing it as a calculated attempt to undermine democratic participation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Agbedi criticized the judgment delivered by Peter Lifu, asserting it weakens legitimate opposition forces. The caucus urged Tinubu to focus on securing lives and property, emphasizing that the country's stability depends on effectively addressing security challenges rather than engaging in early political campaigning.
