Tinubu Vows to Fight Political Opponents for 2027

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu warned political opponents aiming to unseat him in the 2027 elections that he would not yield without a fight, stating, “All is fair in politics.” He made these remarks while receiving the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Tinubu defended the Independent National Electoral Commission against claims of bias, asserting its neutrality and dismissing concerns from political opponents as unfounded fears.

He emphasized the positive outcomes of his administration's reforms, particularly in education, noting the uninterrupted academic calendar and the absence of strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. Tinubu acknowledged inheriting both assets and liabilities from the previous administration but claimed that stabilization had been achieved.

He also discussed the return of mission schools to their original proprietors, urging bishops to engage state governors on this issue, as the power to act lies with them. He reiterated his commitment to national unity and security amidst Nigeria's challenges.
