Edo PDP Condemns Senate's Move on Electronic Election Results Transmission

The People Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has strongly criticized the Senate's approval of optional real-time electronic transmission of election results, labeling it as a move that could invite rigging and jeopardize Nigeria's electoral integrity. In a statement issued by the party's Public Secretary, they expressed concerns that the decision could undermine transparency and public confidence in elections, potentially leading to manipulation of election outcomes.

The PDP highlighted the significance of electronic result transmission in ensuring credible elections and noted Nigeria's progress in electoral reforms under past administrations, particularly during the tenure of former President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua. The opposition party accused the ruling party of attempting to tighten political control rather than promoting flexibility in the electoral process.

They called on the Senate to reconsider its position and urged Nigerians to resist any actions that could undermine democratic processes.
