Nigerian Opposition Parties Condemn Senate's Rejection of Electronic Transmission of Election Results

The People Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) jointly condemned the Nigerian Senate's decision to reject the proposal for mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results. The Senate's rejection of the amendment to the Electoral Act 2022, which aimed to enhance transparency in the electoral process, has sparked strong reactions from opposition parties and pro-democracy stakeholders.

The opposition parties expressed concerns that the Senate's action could weaken Nigeria's democracy and undermine efforts to improve electoral transparency.
